The first batch of Tesla owners in Shanghai received their MODEL S car keys from Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk. Tesla will officially start delivering cars to Chinese users this month. Elon Musk came to China for the first time and witnessed in person the journey of Tesla, an upstart brand that has subverted traditional automobiles, in China.


On April 22, the first batch of Chinese users officially received their own Model S car keys from Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors. Elon Musk came to China for the first time just to celebrate this moment with the first batch of car owners in China, and to start the journey of this traditional car in China at Tesla's China headquarters that is about to be put into use.

At the delivery ceremony in Beijing, the key to the new car was "hidden" by the staff in the unique "front trunk" of the Tesla Model S, bringing a little surprise to the guests. In the end, eight business leaders took over the keys to their own Model S from Musk and became Tesla's first users in China. The eight users include Lifan Football Club Chairman Yin Xidi, Heyi Capital Chairman Xu Liang, famous CCTV producer Zhang Han, Forgame Holdings Chairman and CEO Wang Dongfeng, Times Group President Wang Xiaolan, UC Youshi Chairman and CEO Yu Yongfu and Li Xiang, President of Autohome, etc. In addition to these leaders, IT technology leaders such as Lei Jun and Cao Guowei are also supporters of Tesla, leading a new generation of automobile consumption trends with a new environmental attitude.

Tesla Motors combines the fastback shape of a coupe, environmentally friendly and efficient power and extraordinary user experience. After the delivery ceremony, several Model S vehicles parked on site were surrounded by guests present to take a closer look.

At the delivery event in Beijing, Tesla also demonstrated super charging stations and charging stations’ support for solar energy. If conditions permit, energy from Tesla electric vehicles will be endless and more environmentally friendly.

As the founder and CEO of a leading international premium electric vehicle brand, Musk’s trip to China attracted a lot of attention. For the avant-garde Tesla, in addition to Hanergy Solar Group providing solar photovoltaic solutions to Tesla, China Unicom signed a cooperation agreement with Cubic Telecom of Ireland to jointly provide Tesla with comprehensive automotive informatization solutions. This shows that China Unicom will provide Tesla’s vehicle informatization and Internet access in China.
